Live with us in the beautiful city of Cambridge and enjoy a boarding environment that’s tailored to the sixth form experience.

Our boarding community is varied and diverse, with students from lots of different backgrounds. We combine the best of the support and guidance you’d get in a traditional boarding school with the independence and freedom you need to succeed.

"My husband and I would like to say thanks to you all for providing such a loving and supportive home away from home for our son and other students from different parts of the world. St Barnabas House gives us a really good impression. It's near the school, warm and safe. Very well managed and it really gives students a family feeling."

Independence

We’re not a traditional boarding school - our boarding experience is designed especially for sixth form students. You’ll live in the heart of the exciting student city of Cambridge, just a short walk or cycle ride away from our teaching buildings. So you can separate out your day at Sixth Form from downtime and study time in the evenings and at weekends.

Our diverse community includes international students as well as students from across the UK. We also welcome local students who want to cut out the daily commute into Cambridge to give themselves more time for their studies, sports and other interests after school (as well as that all-important lie in!).

We promote an environment of trust and mutual respect between boarding staff and students. You’ll be encouraged to manage your own studies and develop your independence as a young adult, learning valuable life skills in preparation for university and beyond.

Support

Your wellbeing - mental, physical and emotional - is our top priority. Our boarding community provides a friendly and safe place to live, and there’s always a knowledgeable, caring and trained adult on hand when you need them.

We were praised in our most recent boarding inspection for the ways in which we safeguard and promote our students’ welfare, encouraging them to respect the values and beliefs of others.

Boarding students benefit from additional support with their studies too, through evening study sessions supervised by teachers. We’ll help you strike the right balance between study and leisure.

“We want our boarders to enjoy the independence that living away from home brings whilst feeling comfortable and secure in a friendly community. Our aim is for you to feel happy and well looked after in a supportive environment, so you can realise your full potential.”

Accommodation and facilities

Our boarding houses are mixed, but boys and girls have separate and secure living areas. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with ensuite facilities, and students have plenty of shared social and study spaces to take advantage of.

With private gardens, a bright dining room serving delicious and nutritious food, and well-equipped common rooms, Stephen Perse students can really feel at home with us.

“Whilst experiencing life at college and living in Cambridge I have enjoyed the fact that I am living ‘alone’ without my parents or family. Being by myself is something completely new, but not at all terrifying. I find it actually quite enjoyable, especially living in a lovely place like Cambridge, full of parks and relatively unpolluted (at least in comparison with my home city Milan!).”
