Lord Williams address our Leavers' Service

Rowan Williams.jpgWe were honoured and delighted that the former Archbishop of Canterbury, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Baron Williams of Oystermouth, spoke at out traditional Leavers' Service on 24 June 2013 in Gonville and Caius College Chapel.

Lord Williams is now Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge and kindly agreed to address the gathering of students and parents, choosing to speak on the true meaning of wisdom.

Taking readings from Proverbs 3 vv 3-11 and Luke 12 vv22-31, Lord Williams explained that wisdom is not solemn or dull. It is joyful and involves risk-taking. Gaining wisdom is a life-long pursuit.

The Chamber Choir sang beautifully and the congregation warmed to the final hymn – as is the time-honoured tradition – Jerusalem. As always, an emotional moment.
